Acer Liquid – high-end multimedia features

thumbnail
It is always a pleasant surprise to see an Android phone from new player. Acer has launched its first Android smartphone – Acer Liquid. It offers more features and its multimedia applications also good. However, we found some performance issues while testing so we don’t recommend this device. Acer Liquid is available in the U.K., but not in the U.S. You can purchase unlocked version of Acer Liquid for $400. 3.5 inches capacitive touch-screen LCD display of Acer Liquid has WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels. It shows smooth text and images with bright colors. The colors do not pop from display like that of Nexus One. The touch screen is responsive, but not so quick and sensitive like that of Nexus One. We had to apply more pressure for scrolling through lists and moving between home screens while testing. The situation was same with the onscreen virtual keyboard as it did not recognize taps occasionally. Acer Liquid features inbuilt proximity  [...]

Nokia E63 review – No GPS

thumbnail
The famous Nokia E Series smartphones are business centric handsets. This phone costs $279 and it is very less other unlocked smartphones like $500 Nokia E71. Despite the low cost, the E63 offers Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, QWERTY keyboard, with every productive and messaging features. Nokia E63 will face tough competition with the $99.99 priced Nokia E71x from AT&T. Moreover, the call quality of the E73 is average. If you do not want an agreement with any carrier and need an unlocked and non-touch smartphone, then we would recommend you the Nokia E63. 2.36 inches non-touch LCD display has a resolution of QVGA 320×240 pixels that supports 16 million colors. The bright and vibrant display features light sensing for adjusting the brightness as per the surroundings. We could not see the display clearly in some lighting conditions and colors looked washed out in sunlight. You can customize the menu layout (list or grid), font size, theme and background  [...]

Samsung Propel Pro review – Cramped keyboard

thumbnail
As you might know, the CTIA 2009 had a hot wavy trend about messaging phones and one of the best debuts was Samsung Propel Prop (AT&T). The Pro looks like previous Samsung Propel due to QWERTY keyboard and slider design. However, Samsung has made new additions to this Propel Pro in form of Windows Mobile 6.1 that attracts business class users. This Windows Mobile smartphone provides impressive call quality and broad range of email and wireless features. Samsung Propel Pro also has some design issues like its predecessor. It is thick and bulky as compared to other smartphones such as Nokia E71x and Samsung Epix. If you like slider phones and need a new smartphone, then Samsung Propel Pro will be a good deal. The Propel Pro costs $149 with two year service agreement from AT&T. 2.5 inches LCD display of Samsung Propel Pro is on the front side. It has 320×320 pixels resolution that supports 65,000 colors. The display is not a touch screen, but  [...]

Everybody knows that most of the LG mobiles, especially messaging phones, come only in CDMA like LG enV2 for Verizon Wireless and LG Rumor2 for Sprint. For a change, the company’s new phone, LG Xenon, is also available for GSM carrier, AT&T. The Xenon has similar user interface and sliding QWERTY keyboard as LG Vu. On the contrary, Home Screen of LG Xenon can be customized with dedicated pages for applications and contacts, widgets and Annunciator – drop-down menu for shortcuts. The other features of LG Xenon are also similar to the Vu such as stereo Bluetooth, complete HTML browser, music player, 2-megapixel camera and more. LG Xenon costs around $99.99 with two year contract from AT&T. The browsing experience was average, but overall the Xenon performed good in our tests. 2.8 inches touch screen LCD display of LG Xenon has a resolution of 240×400 pixels that supports 262,000 colors. The display is quite smaller than that of LG Vu and  [...]

thumbnail
HTC HD2 is a complete entertainment smartphone for T-Mobile. However, we managed to get an unlocked version of the HTC HD2 for our review. The highlights of the HD2 are 4.3-inch touch-screen, HTC Sense user experience and Snapdragon 1GHz processor. HTC HD2 continues to have the same size like its predecessor, but it offers exciting  new features. The unlocked version of HTC HD2 costs around $650, but the 3G support will not be available. So, we recommend you to wait for T-Mobile to launch HTC HD2 with 3G support and mail-in rebate. HTC HD2 has 4.3 inches large capacitive touch-screen display, which has WVGA 480×800 pixels resolution. The display is sharp and vibrant. The HD2 has inbuilt accelerometer to rotate the display on tilting the phone. The accelerometer is quick and responsive. The phone does not have fashionable smooth look, but its rubber sliding and hard shell are making the phone tough.
