Travelocity Travel Phone – Beyond E-Tech K250

thumbnail
The dual SIM card phones are not a latest concept in the United States. They hardly come with any carrier, so you can purchase their unlocked versions like the Duet W002, the D8, and the 888 from Beyond E-Tech – Houston based importer. Now, the company has launched latest – Beyond E-Tech K250, also famous as Travelocity Travel Phone. It costs $179 for unlocked version and comes with U.K. based SIM card. However, its speakerphone and media features are totally unimpressive. Its keyboard is a bit cramped. The design of the Travelocity Travel Phone is a reminiscent of the Sony Ericsson Walkman W995a. It has similar navigation array, curved ends, and slider design. It is a surprise that it has Walkman like logo behind the battery cover. What’s more – the menu interface is quite similar to that of Sony Walkman mobile. As the Duet W002 was clean clone of the Apple iPhone, it seems that Travelocity Travel Phone is a clear reminiscent of the Sony Ericsson Walkman W995a.

Beyond E-Tech Duet D888 – with 2 SIM cards

thumbnail
The only thing that is appealing on the phone, is the ability to take 2 SIM cards at one time. But apart from that, this is a low feature phone with a cheap build. The call quality is good but you hardly get a phone these days with a bad call quality. The phone can take 2 SIM cards, which means you can call and send messages from two different numbers. You use a single phone and yet keep your personal and work life separate. The display of the phone is 2.8 inches big, it gives a 320x240 pixel resolution or 65k colors. The display is bright, the photos look sharp and the text can be read easily. The interface is icon based and it is a bit irritating. For instance, to open a photo, you have to navigate through the toggle, then select the photo and then click ‘open’. The capability to take 2 SIM cards at the same time is a unique feature of this phone. We welcome this feature but the phone has 2 separate inboxes for the SIM cards which  [...]

Beyond E-Tech Duet D8 – A Cheap iPhone Look-A-Like

D8 is the successor of the D888 which also could take two SIM cards at a time. While we like this concept we used the phone to find out that it is terribly bad at the features that it is supposed to serve and looks like a typical cheap Chinese phone. The display of the phone is 2.8 inch big and will give a resolution of 320X240 which is pretty low considering the size of the screen. The phone is also touch screen based so we would have liked a bigger screen because it is the only input device in absence of a numeric keypad or QWERTY keyboard. The display is nothing great and the big icons on the menu will certainly turn you off. Smaller icons would have accommodated more items on the menu but then the low resolution comes in the way. You can change the wallpaper, greetings, screen saver and function settings on the display. Using the touch screen is quite frustrating and we kept wishing for a numeric keypad. Sometimes it didn’t register  [...]
