LG Prime GoPhone – With full QWERTY keyboard

thumbnail
LG Prime GoPhone gives you a full QWERTY keyboard in the landscape mode for typing messages. In the portrait, there is the alphanumeric keypad which is not that comfortable to type on. The phone book is limited to 1000 entries. A single entry can take in memo, anniversary, birthday, three postal addresses, Web addresses, display name, company name, four IM handles, three –email IDs and six phone numbers. Feature set on the LG Prime GoPhone include speakerphone, vibrate mode, multimedia and text messaging, calendar, alarm clock, notepad, world clock, calculator, tasks list, tip calculator, stopwatch, and unit converter. Some of the advanced features on the handset include voice command, voice recorder, FM radio, AT&T's mobile e-mail for checking your personal e-mail, instant messaging, and Bluetooth. LG Vu Plus review – With live mobile TV

thumbnail
When AT&T came up with Mobile TV, one of the first devices to have that feature was LG Vu. It had a big three inch screen along with a TV antenna for improving the reception. We reviewed the phone back then and everything except the design went well with us. LG has now come up with its Vu Plus, and we are glad to see that the antenna has been chucked off. It also has a slide out QWERTY keyboard now. The camera has been upgraded along with HSDPA/3G speeds. This phone costs $149.99 and you have to sign a two year contract with the service provider. LG Vu Plus has a three inch display, just like the original one, but this now capacitive. The screen is made of plastic which feels a bit cheap. We wish for an iPod like sturdy glass. The phone lets you add haptic feedback to the touches. The intensity and length of the vibrations can be adjusted too. The screen looks really beautiful and crisp. The resolution is 240x400 pixels along with 262,000 colors.  [...]

LG Sentio with 3 megapixel camera

thumbnail
LG Sentio is the first T-Mobile phone from this manufacturer for USA and we were surprised when we discovered this. Both the service provider and the manufacturer have been in the market for long enough and hence we were intrigued to see that there hasn’t been in the market with this combination. Every phone is going touch screen these days and it is because this interface is much easier to use than the physical buttons. The only exception to is the rugged phone which cannot have touch screen display because it makes the phone too delicate. On the front of LG Sentio, there is a big 3.2 inch color display which dominates the phone’s face. The display is quite good, the graphics look colorful and the screen is bright enough. We had some problems with the screen in environments with bright sunlight but this is not unexpected in LCDs. If you want a screen which can stand bright sunlight, you should check out those AMOLED screens. They come at a premium though and hence manufacturers  [...]

LG Fathom – Feature rich phone

thumbnail
Windows 7 is already announced by Microsoft but they are still making Windows Mobile 6.5 phones for the market. The latest device to join the 6.5 OS family is LG Fathom. It runs on 6.5.3 version of the OS and it has a dual more CDMA/GSM chipset. This means that you can put in an international SIM card when traveling abroad. Because of this feature, we would recommend this phone more to globe trotters. The handset has a resistive touch screen display which doesn’t feel as good as iPhone. However, there is a full fledged QWERTY keyboard, an alternative to the touch screen display. This phone costs $149.99 and you have to sign a two year contract after $100 mail in rebate. LG Fathom has a 3.2 inch resistive touch screen and it gives you a resolution of 800x480 pixels. LG hasn’t given us a capacitive touch screen for the display so don’t expect iPhone like screen. However, we did appreciate that there is an alignment wizard for improving the tap  [...]

LG Crystal GD900 – With a transparent glass keypad

thumbnail
Sexy looks have officially taken over ease of use, and a cell phone has to look sexy if it is to compete in the stiff gadget market. LG are desperate to do something out of the box with this cell phone and we were stunned at the transparent keypad of this handset. The keypad can also be used as a touch sensitive controller. For scrolling through the items on the phone, all you have to do is swipe your finger on it. This is just like a laptop’s trackpad. You can also ‘pinch’ on the keypad to zoom in and out of photos. All this seems too good to be true. We don’t know what the secret is but we surely must congratulate LG for this. We really liked the LG Crystal GD900’s touch sensitive keypad. You can swipe on the keypad and look at the screen. Your view isn’t blocked while you swipe either. The phone has a slider interface, which means you can convinientaly slide the keypad out of sight when you don’t need it. The keypad supports  [...]

LG VX8360 review – Same set of features as its predecessor

thumbnail
Before this, we had the LG VX8350 in our labs for review and we really liked the way the manufacturer managed to pack in lots of features and still kept the price low for it. It is been two years since then, we have got VX8360 and we had high expectations from this phone too. But we were disappointed to see that this new phone doesn’t have any new features and it is pretty much the same as VX 8360. We won’t recommend an upgrade if you already own the predecessor. The price of this handset is $49.99 and comes with a two year contract from Verizon Wireless. On the front of the LG VX8360, you have a tiny 1.7 inches color screen. It supports just 65,000 colors but that is acceptable for an external display. On this screen, you get caller ID, signal strength, battery, time and date. It also supports photo caller ID. When the camera is switched on, you can use this screen as a viewfinder. You also get track information and album art when you  [...]

LG Incite CT810 – jog dial for scrolling

thumbnail
The LG Incite CT810 is the first true smartphone for LG in the United States. Previously, the company has released the high-end phones like the LG Dare and the LG Voyager in United States as well as the LG KS20 smartphone in Europe only. The Incite CT810 is one of the shiniest handsets available in the market. It runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and features inbuilt Wi-Fi, HSDPA support, 3-megapixel camera, Microsoft Office Mobile, ActiveSync, and so forth. The CT810 costs $199.99 with two-year AT&T service agreement. It has minimalist appeal and its touch-screen is reflective like that of the LG Shine. However, the Windows Mobile smartphone suffers from few issues like others. It performs sluggish occasionally and its surface is reflective enough to work as mirror for capturing images. The LG smartphone continues to have the large screen dominating its front face like other touch-screen phones including the HTC Touch and the Samsung Omnia. The  [...]

LG Invision review – unusual keypad arrangement

thumbnail
The Samsung Access and the LG Vu were the only two devices that support AT&T Mobile TV. The LG Vu features touch-screen and wide display, whereas the Samsung Access offers midrange feature set. Now, the LG Invision is available that also supports AT&T Mobile TV and offers 3G support, slim design and good call quality. It costs $79.99 with two-year AT&T contract after a mail-in-rebate. At first look, the Invision looks like the Samsung Access due its wide and short design. However, the Invision has smaller (2.2-inch) display than 2.29-inch screen of the Access. The overall aesthetic of the Invision gives a reminiscent of sleek business calculator. However, it does not feature touch-screen and lacks self-portrait mirror for camera. We will recommend the LG Invision only when you need an AT&T cell phone to access its Mobile TV. We also advise you to check the Mobile TV coverage in your area before buying it. The 2.2 inches LCD  [...]

We will prefer to have at least 262,000 colors. However, the CF360’s screens exhibits sharp and colorful images. You can customize the menu style, color schemes, backlight timer, brightness, dialing font color, and font size. The navigation array is located beneath the display and includes two soft keys, four-directional  [...]

LG Expo review – first with biometric security (fingerprint sensor)

thumbnail
You may have notice the AT&T advertisements for the latest – LG Expo and heard about its projector accessory. Now, LG Expo is available for $199.99 with two-year AT&T contract after mail-in-rebate of $100. It features 1GHz Snapdragon processor for great performance. The Expo is one of the best Windows Mobile smartphones available in the market. Noteworthy that projector accessory has to be purchased additionally for $179. It has more features in sleeker body than that of HTC Tilt2. The smartphone does not have 3.5mm jack, but AT&T supplies adapter for the same. The Expo also has a biometric security- fingerprint sensor that will unlock the phone only after detecting your fingerprints. If you need some kind of biometric security to keep private your data and phone, then we will recommend selecting new – LG Expo. 3.2 inches touch screen display of LG Expo has 800×480 pixels WVGA resolution that supports 16-million colors. The touch  [...]
