LG Connect 4G introduces 4.0 inch WVGA NOVA screen, 5.0-megapixel rear facing camera, dual core processor, front facing VGA camera, 4GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM and microSD memory card slot. At 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, MetroPCS announced two new handsets, which will be running on 4G LTE network. One was more spec-robust LG Connect 4G, while the other was Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G. It is the first smartphone of MetroPCS that comes with few icons, as it not the most reliable, fastest or largest network offered in United States. However, it is always great to see more higher-end options for those who are in the market to stick to prepaid, no-contract plan.

The LG Connect 4G measures 0.4 inch thick, 4.6 inches high and 2.5 inches wide and weighs 5.12 ounces, which is quite heavy. It fits comfortably between shoulder and ear and slips easily into the pants pocket. One of the extensive and exquisite features found on this model is the 4.0 inch NOVA LCD display that boasts 480 x 840 pixel resolution with 242ppi pixel density. The screen is really very bright and fusing around phone both outdoors and indoors and watching videos come out great. It has Corning Gorilla Glass Screen Protector, so you don’t have to worry about being slightly rough with the handset. Viewing HQ videos on YouTube yields similar results.

Above the display on the right hand side of LG Connect 4G, you will find a VGA front facing camera for conference calling or video chatting. Underneath it there are typical four illuminated navigation functions. The standard power button is situated on top of the smartphone, while 3.5mm headphone on the left. The microUSB port and volume rocker button are also on the left. At the back of the device, you will find a rear facing camera with LED flash. The curved edges, few metal accents and simplistic shell are all appealing. MetroPCS is pushing Connect as flagship handset mainly due to its smartphone with dual core processor. Its processor makes the LG Connect 4G quite responsive and snappy.

The LG Connect 4G is powered by an Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, rather than Android Operating System, Ice Cream Sandwich. Some of the Google services include Google Places, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk. MetroPCS has also added some of its own applications, including MetroWeb, Metro Navigator, Metro411 and MetroBackup. Those who are interested in Music, the Connect 4G gets Rhapsody music player application. The 5.0-megapixel camera at the back features LED flash and autofocus. Both focusing and shutter speeds of rear and front facing camera is great, as is the shooter’s image quality. As expected, in low light conditions, there is some noise in the images, and LED flash can sometimes be unflattering and too harsh when it comes to portraits.

You will also like the other features of LG Connect 4G’s camera such as white balance module, timer, exposure meter, scene menu to tell the camera if you are shooting portrait, sunset, or landscape and quite a few color effects (negative, sepia, white and black). The camera records High Definition video in 720p with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The recordings are responsive and quick, and the camera picks up noise accurately without any signs of impurity.

Standard features on LG Connect 4G include 2G Network: CDMA 800 / 1900; 3G Network: CDMA2000 1xEV-DO; 4G Network: LTE 1700 / 2100; 4.0 inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with touch sensitive controls, 16 million colors, 242 ppi pixel density and 480 x 840 pixels; Vibration; MP3, WAV ringtones; microSD, up to 32GB; 4 GB storage, 1 GB RAM; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot; 5.0-megapixel camera with 2592õ1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash and Geotagging; Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread); Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor; GPS with A-GPS support; SNS integration; MP4/H.264/H.263 player; MP3/WAV/eAAC+ player; Organizer; Image/video editor; Document viewer; Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk and Picasa integration.

The LG Connect 4G also gets Voice memo/dial/commands; Predictive text input; Phonebook: Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID; Organizer: Calendar, Alarm, Calculator and Notes; Messaging: SMS, MMS, Threaded view; Notifications: Music ringtones (MP3), Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration, Flight mode, Silent mode, Speakerphone; Sensors: Accelerometer; Hearing aid compatibility: M4, T4, Voice dialing, Voice commands and Voice recording.

LG Enlighten is a great beginner smartphone that offers excellent keyboard, Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G mobile hotspot capabilities, 3G with EV-DO Rev. A, Wi-Fi, QWERTY keyboard, front facing camera, 800MHz processor and more. It also features ergonomic QWERTY keyboard with huge keys, customizable applications menu, Flash 10 Support and Seven customizable home screens. Texts, conference calls, emails, online shopping, social network updates and spreadsheets – its not a typical day, but a typical hour! The Android 2.3 operating system makes mobile life easy with complete customization, efficient navigation, intuitive function and more.

The LG Enlighten’s 800MHz processor provides multitasking muscle, you would require for workdays, weekends and everything in between. With seven different customizable home screens, the Enlighten is smart enough to adapt to your needs. The Enlighten is basically a midrange smartphone produced and introduced by LG Electronics. It comes with 3.2-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The Enlighten also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, Android operating system and Themes application allowing it to run LG’s own launcher, identical to TouchWiz, HTC Sense and Motoblur; along with LG widgets such as Socialite application that aggregates Twitter and Facebook.

The LG Enlighten is a modified version of LG Ally for U.S. Cellular and is similar to Ally, except for redesigned front. LG Electronics has advanced significantly in United States market since then, with the introduction of various solid Android smartphones including high end T-Mobile G2X and entry-level Optimus handsets for all major carriers with recently launched midrange LG Marquee. The LG has now introduced the successor to Ally with Enlighten for Verizon Wireless. In tradition of entry level handsets of LG, it is surprisingly feature packed for its class, providing Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system, Wi-Fi, 3G and 3G mobile hotspot capabilities for five different devices.

The LG Enlighten looks similar to the LG Optimus and measures 4.5 inches high, 0.58 inch thick and 2.3 inches wide, featuring blocky rectangular design, which is softened slightly by rounded corners and curved sides. It is not curvaceous and angled like Ally. The Enlighten weighs 5.54 ounces, which is quite heavy for a midrange smartphone in its class. It features a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display boasting 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The company adopted its own custom interface in its place standard Android user interface. The menu is classified in application categories such as Downloads, Communications, Applications, News & Search, Tools and Media, the bottom row gets phone dialer, menu/home, contacts list and messaging menu shortcuts. It also allows you to tailor seven home screens.

The four-row QWERTY keyboard of LG Enlighten is quite spacious with plenty of spacing between all keys. All keys are raised above the surface and provide a unique typing experience. Beneath the screen, you will find typical Android keys for Search, Menu, Back and Home functions. The micro USB port and volume rocker button are located on the left hand side of the device, while the camera button on the right. The 3.5mm headphone jack with screen lock/power key is on the top of the smartphone, while 3.2 megapixel camera at the back.

As an entry level smartphone, the LG Enlighten comes with enhanced user interface with superior power management, control over applications, downloads management and more. It also gets Adobe Flash Player 10 in browser with 3G with EV-DO Rev. A, Wi-Fi and GPS. The Enlighten is compatible with plenty of services and applications of Google including Gmail, YouTube, Google Search with Voice, Places, Maps with Navigation and Google Talk. Some of the Verizon and LG applications include Backup Assistant, Polaris Viewer, Guided Tours and My Verizon Mobile. Other features include calendar, multimedia and text messaging, clock, voice commands, calculator, stereo Bluetooth and visual voice mail. The 3.2 megapixel camera takes good colors and offers 3x camera zoom and plethora of scene modes such as macro mode, capability to geotag images, white balance, shutter sounds, color effects, timer and ISO settings.

Standard features on LG Enlighten include 3.2 Megapixel Autofocus Camera and Camcorder with Digital zoom, Auto focus, Macro mode, Geo tagging, White balance, Night mode, ISO control, Self timer and Scenes; Android 2.3.4 operating system; Music Player for WMA, MP3, Unprotected AAC+ and Unprotected AAC; Ergonomic QWERTY Keyboard with Larger Keys; Touch Vibration for Tactile Feedback; Speaker Phone; Bluetooth; 800 MHz Processor; 3.2-inch Capacitive Touchscreen; Music Player: AAC, MP3, WMA, AAC+ and WAV; Turn-by-turn navigation; Multiple numbers per contact, Caller groups, Picture ID, Search by both first and last name and Ring ID; Document Viewer; Predictive Text Input and E-mail: POP3, IMAP, Microsoft Exchange and SMTP.

The LG Enlighten is also equipped with Bluetooth Profiles: Handsfree (HFP), Headset (HSP), File Transfer (FTP), Dial-up networking (DUN), Serial Port (SPP), Object Push (OPP), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Generic Audio/Video Distribution (GAVDP), Message Access Profile (MAP), Audio/Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), Audio/Video Control Transport Protocol (AVCTP), Audio/Video Distribution Transport Protocol (AVDTP) and Phone Book Access (PBAP); Wi-Fi; Mass storage device, USB charging; Computer synchronization; Polyphonic ringtones; Music ringtones; Vibration Alert; Phone profiles; Flight mode; Silent mode; Speakers; Accelerometer; Voice dialing and Voice recording.

LG is all set to introduce a brand new high-end Smartphone after introducing plenty of entry-level handsets in the recent past. The latest offering from LG is the LG LU6200, and is expected to enter the markets in the later part of this year. According to the reports about the handset, we’ve learned that the device will be having specifications that will help it compete with devices from Samsung and HTC.

The LG LU6200 is expected to have a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, an 8 MP camera and a 4.5 in HD display, which is capable of displaying 720p videos. The LG LU6200 will be pretty much like the forthcoming HTC Vigor. The latest Smartphone offering from Samsung will be compatible with the 4G LTE and will also be having a front-facing 1.3 MP camera.

LG developed their very own AH-IPS technology, which according to them is a lot more precise than Super AMOLED Plus of Samsung. The LG LU6200 will be powered by a 1,830 mAh battery, which is also seen in many of the other high-end Android Smartphones. The handset also has a DMB digital TV tuner.

LG intends to launch the LG LU6200 Smartphone with plenty of carriers and into different markets across the world. It should be known that LG has close bonding with Sprint and Verizon Wireless. We didn’t hear anything from LG on the version of Android that the LG LU6200 will be using, but considering the fact that the handset is expected to enter the market sometime in early 2012, there is a great possibility that the device could get Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Introduction:

The LG Optimus 3D clearly was the most talked about phone when it was displayed at the Mobile World Congress and the simple reason for that being the fact that it was the first mainstream smartphone to have a 3D display. But that’s just not it, in addition to being the first mainstream handset having a 3D display, the LG Optimus 3D also has a glossy design, a 3D camera/camcorder and a dual-core processor. But we were immensely disappointed upon hearing that the LG Optimus 3D, neither was a 4G phone nor will it be available in US markets. But thankfully at CTIA we came to know that the device will be rebranded for HSPA+ network of AT&T as the LG Thrill 4G. So, don’t get confused by the name, if you are looking to buy LG Optimus 3D.

Design:

The LG Optimus 3D Android SmartPhone looks pretty much like the LG Revolution 4G, and has the same brushed-plastic particularization and a silver strip on the battery cover. Just like the LG T-Mobile G2x, the rear end of the Optimus 3D also has a nice curve. The Optimus 3D felt nicely constructed and strong when held in hand with metal covering its borders and also a rubberized lusterless-black battery cover. The LG Optimus 3D measures 5.07 inches x 2.68 inches x 0.47 inches, the Optimus 3D is a tad bigger than the LG Revolution which measures 5.03 x 2.63 x 0.52 inch. The Optimus 3D is also a tad lighter, and weighs around 5.93 ounces. But despite this all, the handset is a tad on the hefty side and for the users having small hands, the Optimus 3D is not the ideal thing to hold.

The touch-sensitive and display buttons of the handset are glass, which gives it the high end feel. Positioned on top of the handset are a power/lock button and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The left spine houses USB and HDMI ports and the right edge of the handset houses a volume rocker together with a button which allows you to toggle in between 3D and 2D mode.

Software:

It’s sad that the LG Optimus 3D doesn’t comes with the all new variant of Android, which otherwise is known as Gingerbread, but LG has said that they soon will be updating it from Android 2.2 to Android 2.3.

The LG Optimus 3D comes with a custom-built superimpose running atop the Operating System. In general the overlay behaves pretty much like the native Android does. The device will offer you a functional home-screen system and a slick swipe-up lock screen.

Verdict:

Finally we would say that the LG Optimus 3D is an incredibly powerful handset whether you take the 3D characteristic of handset into consideration or not. But we think that the small screen of the phone could be problematic for some.

Seeing the increasing rivalry among the cellphone manufacturers every manufacturer is trying to offer as much brawniness as possible in every single handset that they offer, and this is resulted in significantly thinning of the space between the mobile phone segments.

The LG G2x that we are covering here is the latest offering from LG and with this Android cellphone, LG has made itself as a major power.

The LG G2x is the flagship phone of LG and has been powered by 1-GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor of Nvidia. And we weren’t sure whether one processor is better than the other or not, but we finally think that it two cores actually are better than two.

Right from the very first operation of LG G2x the power of the handset becomes pretty clear. Switching between dissimilar menu and screens is unlined, and faster than ever. Scrolling the catalogue of apps is also seamless and the images flow like a falls.

The phone might have a strong processor, but still the 512 MB of RAM put in the LG G2x is beyond our understanding. This surely is not sufficient for some heavy apps or games that will be entering the handset in near future. But as for now, the phone ran apps absolutely smoothly.

But there also is a downside to such a huge power of the handset, and its that the LG G2x becomes immensely hot after prolonged usage.

The LG G2x has a 4 in capacitive touchscreen display which displays brilliant colors, and though we definitely would have appreciated a bigger screen for gaming, but then there always is an option of HDMI-out and complete HD mirroring allows you to use the cellphone as a gyroscopically responsive controller when you play games on bigger screen. But still we would have appreciated an additional ½ inch or so in the real estate of the handset.

The rear-facing 8 MP camera is capable of capturing approximately one of the crispest and clearest photos that we’ve seen on a cellphone, while front-facing 1.3 MP cameras worked sufficiently for chats. The biggest issue that we had with the camera was the check between pressing the photo switch and the closing of “shutter”, which we have to say, is way too long to precisely capture the photo.

LG fitted the G2x with the stock variant of the Android 2.2 Froyo. As far as performance is considered, let us tell you that the performance was pretty satisfactory, and we didn’t face any problems.

As far as design of the handset is considered, we have to say that it was way better and we didn’t have any issues with the design of LG G2x except for its backbone. We just thing that the phone has too much of backbone and the metal strip tapering the rear end of the handset in the border of the camera feels a bit weird.

One small problem that we had with the LG G2x is that the handset is way too outweighed by the superior firepower under-the-bonnet.

Finally we would like to say that with DLNA and HDMI-out compatibility the handset calls for informal communicating with HDTVs and peripherals. And with Expandible micro SD memory up to 32 GB you get plenty of room for the tunes.

LG Thrive is an attractive looking and slim smartphone that ships Android 2.2 and comes with 3.2 inch healthy sized capacitive touchscreen, microSDHC card slot, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.2 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi. It is powered by a 600MHz processor, making it one of the fastest smartphones in the market. The Thrive is an entry level decent Android smartphone, which looks like Phoenix – both look identical, except the Thrive is strictly the prepaid handset, while the Phoenix is offered postpaid from AT&T. The Thrive is the first smartphone, offered for GoPhone prepaid service of AT&T. However, there are plenty of prepaid phones in the market such as LG Optimus V and LG Optimus M, but Thrive is the first GSM smartphone, which is available, prepaid.

The LG Thrive is available for the price of $179.99 and is the same exact smartphone as LG Phoenix. It offers decent call quality; on the other hand the volume level is too loud. In performance testing, I noticed that the 3G coverage is quite spotty; loading the CNN mobile page is less than 10 seconds. One of the extensive features found in this model is the 600MHz processor, which provides seamless and smooth navigation.

Standard features on LG Thrive include Proximity Sensor; capacitive touchscreen that boasts 262,144 colors; Android operating system; Auto focus and Digital zoom; music player support for AAC, MP3, AAC+, WAV, WMA and AMR; support for HTML, WAP 2.0, XHTML; built-in online services support called Facebook and Twitter; Caller groups, Search by both last and first and name, Multiple numbers per contact, Ring ID and Picture ID; Calculator; microSD and microSDHC memory card support and built in accelerometer. As far as entry level Android smartphone, Thrive is certainly one of the best options out there.

LG Phoenix is an affordable Android smartphone that comes with Android 2.2 and offers portable hotshot capability along with Wi-Fi. It also provides 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and quad-band support. The Phoenix is an excellent choice for those who are looking for entry level Android smartphone on AT&T wireless. One of the first entry level smartphones to arrive in United States was LG Optimus. It was equipped with mobile hotshot capabilities and 3G support for five different Wi-Fi enabled cellphones. It also featured the latest Android 2.2, which was the latest operating system at the time. Since then, the company has revealed more entry level Optimus smartphones with different carrier. The LG Phoenix is available for the price of $49.99, which is quite affordable.

The LG Phoenix looks almost identical to other Optimus smartphones with dimensions of 2.32 inches wide, 0.52 inch deep and 4.46 inches tall. It is lightweight and slender with hint of silver and same curved corners along the sides. The smooth finish provides a comfortable feel in the hand, while the 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen boasts 320 x 480 pixel resolution and 262,000 colors. Even the placement of camera lens, charger and headset jacks, volume rocker button and power button are same like Optimus T. Its Android button placement is little different as compared to previous models such as the Menu button comes first, followed by Search, Home and Back keys. The Back and Home keys are located on the single panel with silver strip underneath.

There are some slight differences in LG Phoenix’s user interface with similar shortcuts at the bottom of the screen – they are browser, phone dialer, messaging application and main menu. The Phoenix comes with Android widgets and applications such as Google Services including YouTube, Gmail, Google Search with Voice, Google Latitude, Google Talk, Google Maps and Google Places. It also features a Thinkfree Office, an application, which allows editing and reading of MS Office documents. The AT&T has also included couple of AT&T branded applications in this model, which include AT&T Hot Spots, AT&T FamilyMap, AT&T MyWireless, AT&T Code, AT&T Radio, Live TV and YPmobile.

Apart from full HTML web browser, LG Phoenix features applications for Twitter and Facebook. It also allows you to add widgets of both applications onto the home screen. Other applications include video player for 3GP, WMV and MP4 formats, along with music player for unprotected AAC+/AAC, MPs and WMA formats. Some of the additional features are speakerphone, typical PIM tools such as notes and calculators, vibrate mode, multimedia and text messaging, voice dialing and visual voice mail. Overall it is an excellent Android smartphone that offers decent voice quality and volume and internal memory of 160MB.

LG KU 990 Viewty may sound like a digital photo frame but actually it is the latest cell phone from LG and has a really impressive five megapixel camera along with xenon flash and autofocus. The camera is main feature that this phone can brag about but apart from that, it has a really good touch screen for viewing the images easily. You can also upload any videos to YouTube directly and also shoot video at 120 fps or frames per second. The camera lets you view photos in slow motion and also slow down the clips. This feature is great for shooting any footage of fast moving sports.

LG says that the LG KU 990 Viewty will be available on all the major networks. Prices aren’t confirmed yet but most probably it will be offered for free monthly contract for about £30 to £40 a month. A lot of camera phones take good looking pictures but the looks of the phone aren’t really good. Fortunately, this LG phone isn’t one of them. In fact, I am sure that this is one of the best looking camera phones I have ever seen in my labs to date.

Just like a lot of LG’s products, the LG KU 990 Viewty comes with an understated design which feels quite functional and exudes a bit of class. It is light and doesn’t really feel plasticky. The looks of this phone are close to a higher end cell phones. Similar to Apple iPhone and LG Prada, this device has a big touchscreen along with 3 mechanical buttons on the bottom – send, end and cancel. The touchscreen attracts a lot of fingerprints easily but still it looks quite attractive.

The star feature of the LG KU 990 Viewty is the five megapixel camera and it is located on the top left section on back of the phone. I was disappointed to see that there wasn’t a lens cover on such a high end camera. There is autofocus light and xenon flash located close to the camera and it is quite similar to Sony Ericsson K810i. On the sides of the camera, there is a rocker disc which lets you push down and up for scrolling through the menu options, adjusting the volume in calls and zooming in/out in the camera mode. It is a very interesting concept but isn’t always easy to press. I would have preferred standard rocker button.

On the LG KU 990 Viewty right, there are 2 dedicated camera buttons and a button for switching between the modes. Mode switch is a bit tough and it can be a bit difficult to change at times but shutter button is really well sized and it is easy to press too. I was glad to see this since such good buttons for camera is hard to find on find on camera phones these days.

As compared to a lot of other touchscreens, the display on the LG KU 990 Viewty is quite responsive and there is haptic feedback offered. You can get vibrations every time you select anything on the phone. Just like interface of Prada, the software interface on LG KU 990 Viewty has friendly icons and the layout too is quite attractive. A lot of people say that taping the small icons is difficult but I didn’t have any problems.

Messaging and dialing on the LG KU 990 Viewty is pretty straightforward. It can be done through alphabetic or numeric keypad which is quite identical to what you have on a regular mobile phone. There are no physical buttons though but you will know when your presses are registered with the feature of vibrating feedback. Messaging interface here gives you an option of handwriting input but in my lab tests, I found that it was slower than tapping on the virtual keypad.

LG KU 990 Viewty comes with a proprietary Web browser and it is one of the best I have ever seen in a cell phone. It is quite similar to the browser on the iPhone and you will be able to see full sized Web pages at reduced size. They can be zoomed in on sections that you want to properly see.

Web pages on the LG KU 990 Viewty loaded quickly but I did see some lag which might be caused by network issues or due to some problems in my review mode. There is HSDPA and hence you will be able to download pages at speeds of 1.8 Mbps theoretically. This speed is faster than what you get on home broadband connections. There is no Wi-Fi on this phone and if you are on flat rate data plan I would recommend you to go for HSDPA as it is a better option or else you will have to pay a lot of money for the data charges.

LG KU 990 Viewty upload videos to YouTube and you can also download them. I couldn’t test the feature though because it wasn’t preinstalled in my review model but the company said that it will be there in the commercial model.

I did test the camera of the LG KU 990 Viewty which can shoot videos at speed of 120 fps or frames per second. At first, I was not sure if this is really necessary but later I realized that it is good for capturing any fast moving action and then viewing the content in slow motion. For taking the normal pictures, this five megapixel camera is quite capable and the quality is similar to what you get on the Nokia N95 shooter. You will be able to adjust picture quality, image size, white balance, ISO, etc.

LG KU 990 Viewty camera comes with digital stabilization feature which can reduce blur but it would be crazy to expect same quality level as optical image stabilization. There is xenon flash here but it wasn’t as good as flash of a standalone camera. That said, it is still better than LED photo light.

Viewing photos on the LG KU 990 Viewty is really cool; there is photo viewer inside for showing pictures as if they are thrown on a table. You can flick through them using your finger and there is also something called standard mode which will neatly line up all of them. Once you can click on any picture, you will be able to zoom in and also move around by a brush of a finger. The experience is quite similar to touching a real picture. There is photo-editing app inside for editing photos.

The photo-editing apps on the LG KU 990 Viewty is the best I have ever used for editing the photos. There are options for adding text, effects, doodles and a lot of fun things like morphing effects. All of them look pretty good when you view it on the large screen of the phone. This isn’t Photoshop but it isn’t bad for editing photos quickly and then sending it to a friend through MMS.

LG KU 990 Viewty has support for DivX playback which is interesting and isn’t marketed heavily on the phone. You can store movies on microSD card and then watch them on the big screen. I would like to see this feature on a lot of handsets.

Other features on the LG KU 990 Viewty include attractive looking calendar, fun 3D shoot ‘em up game, and music player which supports AMR, WMV, WMA, AAC and MP3 formats. There is also a speakerphone mode. Music player here is quite good and you can sort through the album art and artists. The experience is similar to a standalone MP3 player.

LG KU 990 Viewty was then tested for call quality and I found that calls were loud and clear and there wasn’t any muffling or distortion. Loudspeaker is quite loud and the video calling too worked well especially because of the large screen. The quality of the photos taken from a five megapixel camera was pretty good; it is as good as the Samsung G600 and photos looked better than most camera phones. I then watched the pics on a computer monitor and they looked really great. Prints too were of high quality.

Xenon flash of the LG KU 990 Viewty disappointed me though. It wasn’t as bright as that on Sony Ericsson K810i but it is still better than LED photo light. That said, you shouldn’t expect good pics in dim light conditions. In my battery drain tests, I found that this phone lasts for about two days if you don’t use any extra functions. If you are the kind of person who uses the camera and also browses the Web a lot, you will need to recharge it everyday.

The manufacturer says that the battery life of this cell phone is 355 minutes for GSM and using 3G will give you 233 minutes of talk time. GSM standby time is 434 hours and with 3G, it is 454 hours.

LG KU 990 Viewty is a very impressive phone especially considering the fact that this manufacturer doesn’t make a lot of high end camera phones. It isn’t anywhere close to Canon Digital IXUS 170 but the quality is certainly better than most camera phones.

I would recommend you the LG KU 990 Viewty if you like taking a lot of high quality videos and photos. Apart from the camera, there are other good things here like user friendly touch screen and 3.5G (HSDPA). This is one of the best phones from LG to date.

But if you are looking for alternatives, there is Nokia N95 which has Wi-Fi and GPS, Samsung G600 which is quite slim or Sony Ericsson K850i which also has a five megapixel camera.

Pros

Touch screen interface

HSDPA (3.5 G)

Five megapixel camera

Videos can be uploaded directly to YouTube

Bad

Camera doesn’t have cover

No Wi-Fi

Switch of camera mode is a bit tough to move

PDA phones are overshadowed by standard mobile phones but they too have all the greatest and latest technical features. They just lack one crucial element of style. This is a big factor for tech enthusiasts now; earlier they just used to focus on the features. LG has a name of making good looking cell phones and now they are trying to do something in the PDA world with LG KS 20.

LG KS 20 is the slimmest ever Windows Mobile 6 phone. It is just 12.8mm thick and it is hard to find such a thin touch screen cell phone. It is slightly thinner than the Samsung SGH-i780 which is 12.9mm deep. The LG KS 20 chassis is quite similar to Prada phone which worked well in the market due to the good looks. The façade is uncluttered and the size is pocketable. This is certainly one of the best looking phones you’d ever get that doesn’t come with a keypad.

Apart from being very thin, the LG KS 20 is pretty light too. A lot of my friends were pretty amazed at its low weight. At about 92.5 grams, it seemed more like a toy. It is also lighter than HTC Touch which is about 112 grams. A lot of people will be happy to see this but some might balk at the toy like chassis and also the plasticky exterior. The chassis is made of plastic but it is strong and doesn’t really feel cheap when you take it in the hand. The silver and black glossy finish attracts a lot of fingerprints easily so I would advise you to use it with a case.

Front surface of the LG KS 20 is pretty clean, there are just hang up and call buttons with directional joystick located beneath the screen. There are a lot of shortcut button on right side. One of them is power button and the other two are for camera and browser applications. I would have liked another OK button here for minimizing all the applications. There is a microSD card slot which supports expansion up to two gigabytes.

Left side of the LG KS 20 has volume control buttons and a single port for the sync/charger cable and headsets. It is LG’s proprietary connector so you will have to use sync and charger cord that is included in the box. You won’t be able to use any other standard peripherals with this mobile phone.

LG KB770 was released in 2008 and it has great looks. It has the typical LG style but certainly doesn’t look anything repetitive. It is slim and sleek with black color. It is a basic phone and still gives a good set of mid-range features. The features inside along with sleek design will certainly make it popular among the users. It might not have all the high end features that you’d seen in the more expensive cell phones these days but it is still a good handset according to me.

LG KB770 has good collection of mid-range features and it includes a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back which has auto focus and can also record videos. There is also a secondary camera for video calling. A unique feature here is that there is TV out function for connecting the phone to a TV or a projection device and you can use the features of the cell phone on a large TV. It will be really fun to watch videos of the cell phone on a big screen and this will be the major selling point on the phone.

LG KB770 comes with DVB-H receiver which means you will be able to watch TV on your phone directly. The screen of the phone is three inches big and there is document viewer along with organizer for your business life. I would say that this phone is made more for entertainment enthusiasts than business users. The design and the looks of this device are very LG like and it is available in just one color – black. The stylish, sleek and slim design will certainly remind you of earlier phones from this manufacturer. The nice glossy black finish was something I really liked and inside, the software is pretty good too. The big three inches screen is user friendly and the high quality software makes it even easier. LG KB770 is 108 by 54 by 13 mm and the weight is about 109 grams which is quite light for a gadget of this caliber.

LG KB770 is really good and I think it will sell well in the market. The feature set is useful and it is definitely worth spending your precious money on. Both business and entertainment users will be pleased with the device. The main feature of the phone is the TV receiver which means you will be able to keep yourself updated with your favorite TV shows and news as well.
