Nokia 2320 GoPhone – Barebones phone

thumbnail
Nokia 2320 GoPhone is a basic prepaid phone from Go service. You might have made out already from the model number itself that this is a basic low end phone. Entry level Nokia devices belong to 2xxx or 3xxx series where as the higher end phones are the 8xxx and so on. There is also the E and N series are the highest end. Nokia 2320 GoPhone is very barebones. It has a simple feature set and simple design. Bells and whistles are deliberately avoided in order to keep the price low. This device is made for senior citizens or for someone who just wants a cell phone to make calls. I am a hard core tech enthusiast but I don’t expect everyone to be like me. There are people who don’t care at all about phones and this is not just limited to the people who are on a stiff budget. There are managers of big companies using a barebones phone not just because they cannot afford to buy high end phones but because they just aren’t interested much in phones. Nokia  [...]

Nokia Astound – My tests results

thumbnail
Nokia Astound might not be the highest end smartphone out there but it still has a lot of useful features that you need for everyday use. This phone comes with Quickoffice suite, PDF reader, ZIP manager, voice recorder, dedicated app for YouTube, and Ovi Maps, which offers free turn-by-turn navigation and offline maps. There is also Fruit Ninja Lite and Slacker Radio thrown in. If you want more apps, you’ll have to go to the Ovi Store. Right now, the store lacks in content and visual appeal but I am expecting improvements soon. For storing all the content, this phone comes with eight gigabytes of internal memory and it can be increased to 32 gigabytes through external card slot. Nokia Astound comes with eight megapixel camera which has impressive picture quality. This camera is equipped with dual LED flash  [...]

Nokia 5310 Xpress Music – Poor build quality

thumbnail
Nokia 5310 Xpress Music is the Nokia’s version of Sony Ericsson’s W880i Walkman phone. It is very slim at just ten mm and there are cool music playback keys on the front. The slim profile of the phone is a good change from the 5300 which had a rather bulbous design. There are the same row of the music buttons on the screen’s left. The display is large occupies a big space on the front face of the phone. It is also really bright with a crisp resolution of 320x240 pixels. This makes the icon and text look really sharp. Menu system of the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music is really simple and you will easily along with it. It is similar to other Series 40 phones and the Active Standby display comes up by default. This will give you quick access to the functions which are most commonly used through carousel menu. It also displays other useful information like upcoming appointments and song name that is being currently played on the phone. Nokia 5310 Xpress Music’s key feature  [...]

Nokia 7100 Supernova – Nothing spectacular

thumbnail
Nokia 7100 Supernova won’t give you any moments of exciting fireballs as the name might suggest but it still manages to cover the basic features. This phone won’t make you break the band and it has a simple, slider design. The 7100 Supernova is available on pay as you go along with T-Mobile for 70 British pounds. The handset has good looks considering that it is an inexpensive phone. There is bright colored trim along with glossy finish that will certainly appeal to fashion conscious teens having a lot of pocket money to spend. My review model is red colored, according to the package box but it is as pink as a candy floss bag. Nokia 7100 Supernova has a springy slider mechanism; the back cover feels a bit flimsy but the handset still fits very well in to the pocket. The buttons on the keypad are very easy to press and they give a satisfying click. There is plenty of space between the buttons and are relatively large as well. The directional pad is big enough and  [...]

Nokia N95 8 GB – Cool black look

thumbnail
Nokia N95 8 GB is an upgraded version to the original Nokia N95 which sold very well in the market. The chassis is still as chunky as the original one but the manufacturer has made a few changes here to make it a better device. Nokia N95 8 GB is available free of cost along with a monthly contract with all major networks including Vodafone and 3. The screen of this edition is bigger than the original one and I really enjoyed watching content on the bigger display. The videos looked good and I got bigger real estate for Web browsing. On the bottom, there are navigation keys which are small but still very easy to press. Nokia N95 8 GB doesn’t have those pointless media menu which turns up when you slider is pushed down. You can navigate this phone’s start page manually. The interface is snappier and the boot up time on this phone too was a lot faster. On the back, there is no camera cover and there is an advantage about this. You don’t have to worry about the  [...]

Nokia5610 XpressMusic – For music enthusiasts

thumbnail
Nokia5610 XpressMusic looks very sporty with a youthful appearance and this is due to the color schemes of red, black and dark grey that are used here. The phone chassis is made up of plastic and aluminum and it feels very pleasant to touch. There are metal parts on the music slider button and both the panels which flank the display. Apart from that, everything is plastic. The phone edge too looks like metal but it is plastic. This phone has dimensions of 3.9 by 1.9 by 0.7 inches or 98.5 by 48.5 by 17mm and the weight is 111 grams or 3.9 oz. This is not the smallest cell phone out there to date; there are much lighter and smaller phones like Sony Ericsson W910. Still, I would say that this phone is well balanced and fits quite well in the hand. You can easily fit in the back pocket of your jeans. There is a 2.2 inch QVGA display on the Nokia5610 XpressMusic having a resolution of 240x320 pixels and it supports 16.7 million colors. The display is covered  [...]

Nokia 7310 Supernova – With interchangeable covers

thumbnail
Nokia 7310 Supernova is a very slim candybar phone which fits really comfortably in the pocket. Just like a few other Nokia phones, you can remove the back cover and replace it to give it a different look. But I was disappointed to see that there are just a few designs and as compared to the tons of covers that you initially used to get when the craze of removable covers was at its peak. Nokia 7310 Supernova feels really good in the hand, the construction is good even though it is all plastic. You can change the covers if one cover breaks by any accidents. There is a pink cover provided and it is something that guys will scoff at. On the top of the phone, there is a 2.5 mm headphones jack along with microUSB port and on the left side, there is the charger port. On the back, there is a thin plastic covering. The bottom  [...]

Nokia E 66 – Attractive and solid build

thumbnail
Nokia E 66 has plenty of features that we already saw on the Nokia E65 like handset size, menu keys placement, tiny speaker above the display. I really liked the build quality of this phone, it is outstanding. The phone feels really solid and the weight too is pleasing. The battery cover has textured finish with a really good dimpled grid. Sliding mechanism on this phone is pretty controlled and smooth and it is very similar to Nokia 8800 Arte. Nokia E 66 doesn’t have QWERTY keyboard and hence there is no sleek slider design too. I would recommend this handset for people looking for a good business phone that doesn’t have those boring business phone looks. There are also good multimedia touches here, you get a 2.5 mm headphones jack and microSD card slot for putting in tons of videos and songs on the phone. This is not meant for heavy multimedia use but it will still keep you entertained during those long bus trips. In terms  [...]
