Pharos Traveler GPS 127- High Price And Low Performance

thumbnail
Smart phones have now become a tight market with manufacturers increasing the number of features and decreasing the price. It is really tough for new comers now to enter and survive in this already crowded market. So manufacturers are coming out with new dough to enhance their sales and the latest is GPS software inclusion in these devices. The phone comes unlocked which means that it will come at a bigger price tag. We thought the handset was pretty good for navigation purposes but fails to compete with smart phone giants like HTC. With a price like this slapped on to it, we would recommend you to go for Touch Cruise from HTC which gives you even better features for smart phones with GPS and comes at a less price. The display of the screen is 2.5 inch TFT LCD touch screen which we found was a bit low while navigating through maps. It has a 320x240-pixel resolution and 65,000 colors which makes images, text look clear on the screen. The  [...]

Beyond E-Tech Duet D8 – A Cheap iPhone Look-A-Like

D8 is the successor of the D888 which also could take two SIM cards at a time. While we like this concept we used the phone to find out that it is terribly bad at the features that it is supposed to serve and looks like a typical cheap Chinese phone. The display of the phone is 2.8 inch big and will give a resolution of 320X240 which is pretty low considering the size of the screen. The phone is also touch screen based so we would have liked a bigger screen because it is the only input device in absence of a numeric keypad or QWERTY keyboard. The display is nothing great and the big icons on the menu will certainly turn you off. Smaller icons would have accommodated more items on the menu but then the low resolution comes in the way. You can change the wallpaper, greetings, screen saver and function settings on the display. Using the touch screen is quite frustrating and we kept wishing for a numeric keypad. Sometimes it didn’t register  [...]

Review Of Sonim XP3 Quest Shock Proof, Water Proof Cell Phone

thumbnail
The most important feature of the phone is ruggedness. The phone is made to stand toughest of tests and it really lives up to what is boasted on the box of the phone. The phone is water proof and shock proof. We actually put the phone in a bucket of water and tried calling, the phone rang and it was not affected by water. This is a good phone for divers or people who love swimming. But we very much doubt if you would be needing phone when you are in there. Besides this the phone is shock proof, we threw the phone from second storey and yet the phone was shinning all the way through. We also tried to throw it down the stairs and performed a few really tough tests but the phone refused to give up. The SIM got out of the place, we guess because we got message of “insert SIM” on the display once we picked up the phone back. You can gift this phone to your kids, no matter how badly they use it the device won’t be affected. The screen is the most delicate part of the phone and  [...]

Garmin Nuvifone G60- AT&T- Good For GPS But Overall, Bad Smart Phone

thumbnail
There are chances that you haven’t heard Garmin making mobile phones (and we don’t blame you if you haven’t) and Garmin announced that it would be making a smart phone but it was delayed time and again but here we are finally with the product. Garmin makes GPS devices and looking at this phone we think that it should stay with GPS only, use this phone for sometime and you will understand what we are talking about. To start with this phone looks awful and the home screen of the phone makes things worse. We were turned off by the over sized icons of the screen. The other side of the screen which has smaller icons can be scrolled up and down to access more applications. This reminded of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface but the icons cannot be dragged out of the band to the desktop of the phone. The display of the screen is 3.5 inch big and gives a resolution of 272x480 which maybe the reason behind the big icons on the screen. A bigger  [...]
