Cheap cellular phones – Five essential things
If you think that there is not much to look when it comes to cheap cellular phones, you are wrong. Entry level cellphones might not cost that much but that doesn’t mean that you should pick any one amongst the crowd. If you want a good cell phone from the millions out there, here are our guide lines about it. Make sure all the essentials are checked before you purchase a phone.
Display:
Cheap cellular phones have smaller LCD displays and along with it, the resolution too is small. A smaller resolution won’t fit in lot of items on the display at a time. For instance, you will get just 3-4 lines text display on the screen. Also be wary of the fact that LCDs get blank when viewed in bright sunlight. The display should have good quality, images should look bright and text should be readable.
Keyboard:
You’d be crazy to expect a full fledged QWERTY keyboard in cheap cellular phones but still the keypad should have keys which are easy to press. You will be using a cheap cellular phone for just typing messages and dialing numbers. We have seen keyboards which give a tough time even while punching numbers. Check out the keyboard before you purchase a phone.

Camera:
In cheap cellular phones, you will get 1.3 or 2 MP camera which won’t take good photos but still it is OK for putting pictures on the Web. Some camera phones also let you record video. Buy a phone which supports this feature as you can shoot video and put it on the Web. You won’t get flash on such entry level phones but if you get a mirror, then we would recommend you to go for that.
Music player:
This is not seen much in cheap cellular phones but if your child is asking for his first mobile phone; a music player will be the first thing he is bound to look at. You won’t get a full fledged music player in an entry level cell phone but check if all the basics functions are there. You will get a music player in a cell phone which supports album art, play lists, and dedicated music button.
Call quality:
This is the most important factor when it comes to cheap cellular phones. Call quality has to be stellar on both the sides. Voice should not distort at the highest level. If you love talking on speakerphone, then make sure voice can be heard clearly on the speakerphone too. Handset call quality is always better than speakerphone ones.
Other features:
These features give excellent value for money. Look for features like Bluetooth, GPRS, FM radio, etc. If the manufacturer doesn’t have these features, we won’t call it a deal breaker but still it would be appreciated. Finally, the phone should have a sturdy build.
Summary:
There is not a lot to see in a cell phone, keep these five factors in mind when you look for cheap cellular phones.
