Nokia 2660 is a basic clamshell phone. It is 3.43 inches tall, 1.76 inches wide and 0.84 inches deep and weighs 2.89 ounces. The 2660 has user-friendly and plain design instead of frustrating and stylish. It has black and silver color scheme.

Inside Dope:

Nokia continues its tradition of offering good quality basic and simple phone centered towards simple communication by launching new – Nokia 2660. Like previous Nokia 2320, the 2660 does not have latest features for messages and calls, and a camera. Despite of its basic design, the 2660 phone features Bluetooth and voice recorder. The overall call quality is passable, but phone is slow. Nokia 2660 comes in free with two-year contract from AT&T. Moreover, you can also buy the 2660 unlocked for $149 and use AT&T GoPhone prepaid service.

Nokia 2660 reviews

2.5mm headset jack and propriety charger jack are located on the top of Nokia 2660. Again, we prefer to have standard 3.5mm headset jack and a combined micro-USB charger/PC jack. The 2660 also does not have dedicated volume rocker, but you can use navigation toggle for adjusting the volume on call.

Small external monochrome display sits on the lid and has blue and white resolution of 96×68 pixels. It shows battery life, signal strength and date/time. You can change backlight time and clock format. Time will be visible even the external display becomes dim. 1.8 inches LCD internal display has 160×120 pixels resolution that supports 65536 colors. The internal display is small in size, but enough for a free phone.

Navigation array is located beneath the display and has spacious design. It consists of End/power button, Talk key, two soft buttons and four-way toggle with middle OK button. We missed a dedicated back button on Nokia 2660. The keypad has backlit, tactile and spacious buttons.

Nokia 2660 can store 400 contacts in its phonebook. Each contact can save five numbers, one email, a nickname, one formal name, street address, company name, job title, notes and birthday. You can organize the contacts into groups with a ring-tone.

The basic feature set includes stopwatch, timer, calculator, notepad, to-do list, calendar, multimedia and text messaging, voice recorder, and alarm clock. The advanced highlights of Nokia 2660 are Bluetooth, AT&T Mobile email and instant messaging. However, it has alphanumeric keypad and clumsy Web-based interface that does not allow taking much benefit of above features.

Nokia 2660 has Tetris game and you can download other Java titles via WAP 2.0 browser. You can customize the cell phone with screen savers, wallpaper, alert tones and color themes. Additional options are available through AT&T Media Mail application. It is important to mention here that GSM 850/1900 dual-band of the 2660 does not work outside North America.

We made few calls through dual-band based Nokia 2660 via AT&T service. The overall call quality was good. We received natural sound at our end with tad hollow volume. The callers received sound with little wind noise at their end. They could tell that we were calling through cell phone. The speakerphone call quality was average. Both of us received distorted sound with low sound. We did not face any problem in pairing Bluetooth headsets with the cell phone. We faced little lag while moving between menu options and icons.

Nokia 2660 has a battery life of 7 hours of talk time and 13 days of idle standby time. The digital SAR rating is 1.01 watts per kg as per FCC radiation tests.

Nitty Gritty:

Nokia 2660 is a basic cell phone and centric towards making calls. If you need a free handset and can manage two-year contract, then you can buy Nokia 2660. However, we will recommend you to check other free handsets with the AT&T contracts.
