The T-Mobile MyTouch 3G is very pretty looking and the big screen really rocks! T-Mobile’s first Android phone was G1 and we now have the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G after about ten months of wait. The phone has been worked hard upon and it really shows on the features side. The T-Mobile MyTouch 3G is nothing like its predecessor, the G1 was like a square box and bit clunky, where as this phone is a bit more thin and you get color options of black white and merlot. We got the white version for test in our centers. The phone has a ‘chin’ in the bottom just like some Android phones have been known to have and this might give you an itch in the pocket. But it is sure to fit in the tightest of jeans. The T-Mobile MyTouch 3G is 4.65 inches tall, 0.65 inch deep, 2.19 inch wide and weighs 4.09 ounces. The Samsung SGH-T659 has old looks but the features, though few, are pretty up to date. This is a basic phone, it is not made for your gizmo gadget freak but it serves well for the functions it is offering. The display of the Samsung SGH-T659 is 2.5 inch big and will give you a resolution of 320x240 pixels. The screen has 262,000 colors, the icons and the text is good and clear. In the display you can change brightness, font size, color, type and backlighting time. A lower backlight gives you larger battery life. Once features of the phone started increasing people have began to use it as a device which can click photos, play music, etc. It then became economical to use a phone which has all such features rather than get a separate phone, camera and music player. Now people are getting serious and buying such mobile phones and hence manufacturers are also taking advantage of this. We all know that the 2XXX family is quite old in Nokia phones. When saw the Nokia 2680 lying on our desks for review we quickly made out that it would be a basic phone just by the numbers ‘2680’ on the box. We, as gadget enthusiasts don’t have much to write about this phone because there is not much in there. The Nokia 2680 is made for people who don’t call much and use the phone to text messages occasionally. The screen of the Nokia 2680 is 1 inch big TFT LCD display and it is seriously small. We frown even at 2 screens and we seldom come across such tiny displays. The resolution is 128X160 which is also low. But with this screen you can’t ask for a bigger resolution. But you will get an idea about how small the screen is when we say that the phone could house only two icons at a time in the messaging menu. HTC pure is the first mobile phone to come in packaged with the new Windows Mobile 6.5 which promises a better OS with more on features and applications. The web browser of the phone is more powerful and better than earlier HTC phones but it still leaves a lot to be desired. Other useful services include Microsoft application store and a backup service called My Phone. If your phone gets lost or stolen you can remotely erase or wipe the data on the phone but it will remain safe on the company’s website thanks to the My Phone feature. Browsing has been improved on this phone and so is the multimedia but it is still not at par with what other players give in the market. The most important feature of the phone is ruggedness. The phone is made to stand toughest of tests and it really lives up to what is boasted on the box of the phone. The phone is water proof and shock proof. We actually put the phone in a bucket of water and tried calling, the phone rang and it was not affected by water. This is a good phone for divers or people who love swimming. But we very much doubt if you would be needing phone when you are in there. Besides this the phone is shock proof, we threw the phone from second storey and yet the phone was shinning all the way through. We also tried to throw it down the stairs and performed a few really tough tests but the phone refused to give up. The SIM got out of the place, we guess because we got message of “insert SIM” on the display once we picked up the phone back. There are chances that you haven’t heard Garmin making mobile phones (and we don’t blame you if you haven’t) and Garmin announced that it would be making a smart phone but it was delayed time and again but here we are finally with the product. Garmin makes GPS devices and looking at this phone we think that it should stay with GPS only, use this phone for sometime and you will understand what we are talking about. To start with this phone looks awful and the home screen of the phone makes things worse. We were turned off by the over sized icons of the screen. The other side of the screen which has smaller icons can be scrolled up and down to access more applications. This reminded of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface but the icons cannot be dragged out of the band to the desktop of the phone. Motorola Karma QA1 is a square phone which looks quite a lot like Verizon Wireless Blitz and Cricket TXTM8. The three phones look a lot similar but we will say that when it comes to features and quality, this Motorola phone wins. It looks quite simple and basic phone but Motorola has known the surprise us with great packages inside. This phone has features like HTML browser for the internet and access to applications of social networking which makes better than other messaging phones. The display of the Motorola Karma is tiny 2.5 inch. This phone is a strict no-no for multi media enthusiasts who prefer bigger screen for watching videos. The display has resolution of 240X320 and 262,000 colors which is quite good for a small screen like this. Images look crisp and the display is clear with the clear font and big icons.
